Barry Daniels - Wood Turner
Visualizing and releasing artistic forms that are hidden with in a wide variety of wood has been a challenge and a passion for Barry. His love of wood and innate sense of artistic form and balance, along with years of developing master turning skills, enable him to create collectible pieces that are both pleasing to the eye and sensuous to the touch. Each turning, be it an artistic piece, utilitarian bowl/platter, or cremation urn, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. he currently exhibits artistic turnings and cremation urns in several art shops and funeral homes in Ontario. He takes great pride in his work and his creations can also be viewed or purchased at Sandbar Studios, Kitchener.
Sandra Roemer - Photographer
Photography has been a passionate, lifelong pursuit of Sandra’s. Capturing the essence of a subject or scene is her focus. “A great photograph records a magical moment, a split second when the elements of light, timing and photographic skill come together as the shutter is pressed. The intrigue lies in the probability that such moments occur only once.”
Sandra has a flair for creativity in her photography and in the presentation of her work which includes printing, matting and framing. She uses acid free materials and archival quality papers. Sandra is an active member of two Photography clubs, GRIPS of Kitchener and the Mississauga Camera Club where she consistently receives awards for her work.
Recent awards include first prize in the KPL/Record Photo Contest (2009), first prize winner in CBC’s David Suzuki Nature Photo Contest (2010), and ‘Photographer of the Year’ in 2009 and in 2010 at GRIPS Camera Club.
Analyzing the quality of light as well as finding a superior composition to capture the essence of a subject or scene is her challenge. Photography rewards Sandra with not only the outcome. It calls her to explore new places and to set aside time to quietly observe nature and people.
