Night and Day Studio
Night and Day Studio pottery, formed by artists/potters Paul Kaye and Elsa Mann in 1997, was initially best known for creating timeless frost proof terracotta planters and raku art tile.
Today, Paul continues to create new and interesting clay vessels for container gardens, and has designed a new line of functional dinnerware using the historic firing technique known as salt glazing.
Elsa continues to explore the intricacies of the raku firing process. She has utilized the metallic sheens of raku tile to create large scale projects such as accent tables, tiled mirrors, mantel surrounds and feature areas. Today she continues to explore her latest passion, horse-hair raku pottery, a primitive firing technique characterized by fine black lines over the surface of each piece which are created during the firing process utilizing individual strands of real tail and mane hair from horses.
